Replacement springs for
Wayne Dalton Garage Doors using the torquemaster spring system
. This specialty spring is made only by Wayne Dalton for their
Torquemaster
TMS garage door system.
Please take note of the guide below before ordering springs. The spring style (plus vs original) and the door weight is the most important part of this process. You may not receive the correct size spring if you guess at either of those things.
What the different dropdown options above mean:
Spring type:
Do you have the Plus or Original Style?
Torquemaster Original - Original style spring only
Torquemaster Plus - Plus style spring(s) only
Convert Original to PLUS - Comes with spring(s), winding assembly kit, and cable drum set all in the plus style. This is all you need to convert the original style torquemaster setup to the plus style. We highly recommend this option for anyone with the original style springs to avoid having issues with the old gears in your original style winding assembly. This gear can strip out during replacement spring install and it is no longer made. If the gears strip, you will have to upgrade to the plus style and return the original spring to reorder the plus spring conversion kit. If you don't want to take the risk of that happening, this is an excellent choice.
Door Height:
7ft or 8ft selection available. If your door is between 6'6" - 7'5" select 7ft. If your door is between 7'6"-8'2" select 8ft.
Balance Weight:
This is the most important thing when ordering springs. Springs are not one size fits all. Usually the door weight is listed on the spring tube label (see below). Door weight and balance weight are the same thing. Make sure you find the actual weight of your door and then select the correct range listed above that your door weight falls within. Do not order a weight range above your door weight. Springs are specifically designed to balance a weight range at the correct number of winds for your door height, so ordering a spring for a heavier door will not balance. It will result in a door that won't close fully and can even damage your other door parts and motor when trying to operate. All springs are rated at a life cycle of 10,000 +/-. Making sure you select the correct weight range will ensure the best lifespan for your door springs. Send us a message if you have any questions regarding this!
The information above is all we need or can use to determine what spring is correct for your door. Any other information such as part numbers, spring dimension, wire size, and door models is subject to variables and will not provide accurate or usable results.
Some weight options are not available for the original style anymore. If you do not see your door weight when selecting the original style spring, you may to convert to the plus system. Select the option "Convert Original to Plus" under spring type to receive the upgrade kit with your spring. Kit includes all parts needed to change to the plus.
Please note:
The TorqueMaster springs you receive (if you select the correct style, height and weight of your door) will be what is currently manufactured for your garage door. New torquemaster springs will not always match your old springs due to the switch from an oil tempered spring to a new high tensile strength music wire spring.  It may be different in length, diameter, or wire size than your existing spring and have no inner rod, but it will be the correct part as ordered for the size of your garage door. Install as advised in the instructions that are included with the spring.
Plastic spring sleeves are not included. Cones may be made out of varying material (plastic or metal) as manufactured.
