Description
I am the original owner and purchased this bicycle in 1967 from Oscar Wastyn's shop in Chicago as one of three different custom frames he ordered. Original was full Campy Record with low flange hubs and tubular tires. I raced this bike for a number of years and even toured on it in the midwest. In 1983, I took it to the elite frame builder in Minneapolis to have it painted and upgraded with braze-ons for cable guide, water bottles and pump. I also replaced the original Record with a full Nuovo Record group which is currently on the bicycle in excellent condition (see pictures). The original decals were long gone before it was painted but the builders plaque on the head tube is in excellent condition. I replaced the original handlebars and bar stem in the late 1970's with new Cinelli equipment and the Unicanator saddle wore out some time in the 1970's and has been replaced twice most recently 15 years ago with an Avocet saddle.I have not ridden this bicycle much in the last 15 years and have a Cannondale synapse that I currently ride.
The bicycle was just overhauled by a professional shop with all bearings checked out and re-packed including the hubs. The current tubulars are Tufo tires and I include two new unmounted Tufo tubulars and three new generic Italian tubulars for training or touring. The
only defect
is a small dent the top tube where a moving company let the handlebars snapped around. The frame is straight and structurally very sound with no rust and only minor wear on the unpainted chrome lug ends. Additional pictures are available at your request.
