The rating refers to the standard date the helmet adheres to. The ones you are likely see are M2005, M2010, and M2015. Every 5 years, Snell releases a new standard which is a new series of tests the helmets must pass in order to receive the new rating. The rating a helmet receives generally means it's legal for use in most event types for 10 years from the rating:
M2005 - Good until 2015
M2010 - Good until 2020
M2015 - Good until 2025
This helmet carries the Snell M2015 rating which is approved for use until the end of the year 2025.
The Snell M2015 standard certifies a helmet for use in competitive motorcycling, however, it is accepted by most karting organizations and by
some
auto racing organizations. Check with your organization to ensure that a M2015 helmet is permitted!
Helmet Sizing
Proper helmet fit is vital to the performance of a helmet during an impact.
For the helmet to perform properly during an impact, it must stay securely on the head.
A small metal tape measure or a cloth tape may be utilized to make your initial measurement. You can also use a string, which can then be laid against a measuring tape.
Measuring the head is only a starting point for the entire sizing procedure.
Due to varying shapes, heads that are apparently the same size when measured may not necessarily fit the same size helmet.
Measure the head from a point half an inch above the eyebrows and around the back of the head that results in the largest possible measurement.
Take several measurements. The largest measurement is the one you want to use.
